AgileData.io - Define the Context That Drives Your Build: Introducing Canvases

AgileData builds your data platform from the context you define: the business events that happen, the concepts involved in them, and how they relate. Canvases guide you through defining that context in small, manageable steps.

The new **Canvas** page, available from the top menu after Catalog, explains how context drives the build. It lays out the available canvases along the data journey: Frame, Explore, Design, Contract, Build, Prove and Verify. The Glossary page also lists the canvases that feed it.

The first canvas is the **Business Event Matrix**. Business events are rows and concepts are columns, grouped by the classic questions Who, What, When, Where, Why, How and How Many. Click a cell to mark that a concept takes part in an event, and click again to mark it as the concept that drives the event. You can add new events and concepts as draft tiles straight from the matrix, and a step tracker shows what to do next.

* Business Event Matrix for mapping events to concepts and choosing the driving concept
* Add Event and Add Concept create draft tiles directly from the matrix
* Step tracker and pop-up explanations for each event and concept
* Glossary page now lists its contributing canvases
