Trace Your Data’s Journey with the New “Trace Field” Feature!
Ever wondered how a specific field in your data map got there? Now you can easily trace its journey with our new “Trace Field” feature!
What’s the Problem?
While we’ve always provided a clear view of tile lineage (how tiles are connected), we haven’t offered the same level of detail for individual fields. This meant you couldn’t easily see how a specific field in your data map was transformed or where it originated from.
The Solution:
Introducing “Trace Field”! Now, simply click on any field name in your data map and select the “Trace Field” option. This will open a modal window that shows you the complete data flow for that field, including:
Source and Target Tiles: See exactly where the field originates from and where it ends up.
Transformations: Understand any changes or manipulations applied to the field along the way.
How it Works:
We’ve leveraged our existing gherkin rules (automatically created when you define change rules) to provide a first draft of field-level lineage. This means you can start tracing your data’s journey right away!
Get Started:
Start exploring the “Trace Field” feature today and gain a deeper understanding of your data’s flow. This powerful new tool will help you:
Improve data quality: Identify potential issues and inconsistencies in your data flow.
Boost data understanding: Gain a clearer picture of how your data is transformed and used.
Simplify data analysis: Easily trace the origin and transformations of specific fields for more efficient analysis.
We’re excited to bring you this new feature and we’re always working to improve your data analysis experience. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
