2026-04-24 - Only Admins Can Remove Risk Tags from Catalog Tiles¶
Release¶
AgileData.io - Protect Your Risk Annotations: Admin-Only Removal of PII Risk Tags
Removing a --risk tag from a catalog tile now requires admin privileges. Regular users can still view and add risk tags, but only administrators can remove them — ensuring that high-risk PII annotations aren’t accidentally or inadvertently cleared.
Risk tags serve as a critical governance layer, flagging data assets that contain sensitive or personally identifiable information. Allowing anyone to remove these tags created a gap where important warnings could disappear without oversight. This update closes that gap by requiring an admin to explicitly sign off on the removal.
At the same time, tiles tagged as high-risk PII are now hidden from the general catalog view and only visible to administrators. This limits accidental exposure of sensitive data assets to users who don’t need to know they exist.
What’s New:
--risktag removal restricted to admin users onlyHigh-risk PII tagged tiles hidden from the catalog for non-admin users
Admins retain full control to add, remove, and review risk tags
What this means for you:
Risk annotations are protected from accidental removal
Sensitive data assets are surfaced only to those with admin oversight
Stronger data governance with a clear audit trail for risk tag changes
