2026-04-21 - Column Descriptions Now in Their Own Catalog Section¶
Release¶
AgileData.io - Cleaner Catalog Views: Column Descriptions Get Their Own Space
Column descriptions in your catalog tables now appear in a dedicated section, separate from other column metadata. This makes it much easier to find and read the context behind each field without having to scan through technical attributes.
Previously, column descriptions were mixed in with other column properties, making it harder to quickly scan what a column is actually for. By surfacing descriptions in their own section, the catalog view becomes more readable and the business context of your data is easier to navigate.
This is particularly useful when onboarding new team members to a dataset — they can jump straight to the descriptions section to understand the meaning behind each field.
What’s New:
Column descriptions displayed in a dedicated section within catalog table views
Cleaner visual separation between descriptive content and technical metadata
Consistent formatting applied across all catalog table entries
What this means for you:
Faster understanding of what each column means when browsing the catalog
Easier to review and update descriptions without navigating cluttered metadata
Better experience for stakeholders and non-technical users reading the catalog
