2026-04-29 - Claude Code Now Supported as an MCP Client¶
Release¶
AgileData.io - More Ways to Connect: Claude Code Joins Claude Desktop for MCP Access
Claude Code — Anthropic’s command-line AI coding tool — can now connect to AgileData via the Model Context Protocol (MCP). If you work in the terminal with Claude Code, you can now query your AgileData catalog and run data workflows directly from your command line.
Previously, our MCP authentication flow was designed around Claude Desktop, which uses a fixed localhost callback address. Claude Code uses a dynamically assigned port for its local callback, which caused the auth redirect to fail. We’ve updated the authentication server to accept connections from any localhost port, making both tools work seamlessly.
At the same time we made sure the existing Claude Desktop experience was unaffected — both clients now authenticate reliably through the same flow.
What’s New:
Claude Code accepted as a valid MCP client with any localhost callback port
Fixed a regression where adding Claude Code support had broken Claude Desktop redirects
Both Claude Code and Claude Desktop now authenticate through the same reliable flow
What this means for you:
Use Claude Code in your terminal to interact with AgileData data and catalog
Your existing Claude Desktop MCP connection continues to work without changes
Greater flexibility in how you connect AI coding tools to your data platform
