2026-10-21 - Express Rules Can No Longer Overwrite Another Rule’s Target¶
Release¶
AgileData.io - Protected Outputs: Express Rules Check for Clashes Before Saving
Express Rules replace their target table or view in full every time they run. If an Express Rule was saved with the same target as another rule, it could silently overwrite that rule’s output.
Every time an Express Rule is saved, published, re-parsed or imported, AgileData now checks whether any other active or draft rule already loads the same target. If one does, the save is stopped. The message names the rule that owns the target, so you can choose a different name or archive the old rule.
What was happening:
Express Rules able to target a table or view already loaded by another rule
The other rule’s output silently replaced on the next run
What this means for you:
Your existing outputs are protected from accidental overwrites
Clear messages that tell you exactly which rule is in the way
